The designers have certainly been trailing through the archives this season. Not only do we have a strong Seventies trend and a Sixties mod revival, we're now seeing shapes and styles reminiscent of the Thirties and Fourties. Luxury and classic glamour is key- think furs, chiffon and cat's eye glasses.
The trend is a sign of fashion putting this financially dry yet physically wet 'Summer' in the past dipping into Christmas partywear. The sales are inevitably going to begin early, so why not the celebrations as well? Stores are ablaze with rich hues, glitter and sequins- anything to compensate for the dull weather. There's nothing like a light spot of commodity fetishism to improve the mood.
